CEO, ModCloth
Matt Kaness was appointed CEO of ModCloth in January 2015, bringing over 10 years of multi-disciplinary leadership experience at some of the most innovative lifestyle brands in the world. Since joining ModCloth, a fashion retailer specializing in unique clothing, footwear and home decor, the company announced achieving $150M in net revenue with profitability, debuted its namesake label, and incubated its first Fit Shop in San Francisco.

Most recently, Matt served as the Chief Strategy Officer for Urban Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: URBN), a portfolio of multi-channel experiential lifestyle brands — including the eponymous Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain and BHLDN - where he was the lead corporate executive focused on growth and innovation for over 7 years. Prior to joining URBN in 2007, Matt worked at Burton Snowboards in Burlington, VT, where he led a multi-year business transformation primarily focused on category management, product development, sourcing and supply chain.

Mr. Kaness was an elected member of the Board of, the Digital Division of the National Retail Federation (NRF) trade group, based in Washington, D.C., from 2013-2015, and is currently a Board Director for the Vetri Foundation for Children (VFFC), based in Philadelphia, a non-profit promoting healthy living to children through school-based programs. Matt holds an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Matt and his wife Theresa have three children and reside in Tiburon, CA.
