TRACK 1: Disruptive Startups and Pioneering Brands

Session A: On-Demand Startups Redefining Retail Experiences

Sam Rosen
Founder & CEO, MakeSpace
Sam is the founder and CEO of MakeSpace. Always one for creating tangible solutions for real-life needs, he came up with the concept for MakeSpace after dealing with the pains of traditional self-storage in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Now, a few years later, Sam is a fearless leader reinventing the antiquated storage industry.

Prior to MakeSpace, Sam was Upfront Ventures' first Entrepreneur in Residence. There, he had the opportunity to understand the inner workings of a VC as well as start laying the grounds for what would later become MakeSpace. Sam joined Upfront after founding SpeakerGram, Sam's previous endeavor from the inaugural 500Startups accelerator class. Sam also worked in corporate banking at Citi and has held sales and marketing positions with companies such as Seamless. He was featured in Forbes' 2015 "30 Under 30" list, in the consumer tech category, and received a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia.

Sam is a lifelong hockey player who prefers a frozen pond to a concrete jungle. He's an avid CrossFit athlete and Soul Cycler. He lives in Manhattan and uses MakeSpace to store his hockey bag, childhood photo albums and yearbooks, and his hiking and backpacking gear. If he could have his stuff shipped anywhere in the U.S., it would be to L.A., so that he can live part time at the beach.
